Global Markets (GM) Product Control (PC) is a department of Global Banking and Markets (GBM) Finance responsible for the production and independent validation of GM profit & loss and balance sheet. Core responsibilities include: primary point of contact for the GM business for day-to-day finance issues; daily P&L production, reconciliation and reporting; P&L attribution and commentaries; independent verification of prices and valuations; general ledger integrity and month-end close; balance sheet substantiation; reserves and fair value adjustments; consistent application of accounting policies in accordance with IFRS; information for financial and regulatory reporting disclosures; hedge accounting controls.
The role is a hands-on Individual contributory role executing high quality daily service delivery in producing reconciliations and reports, ensuring timeliness and accuracy and maintaining strong stakeholder engagement and working towards process simplification and standardization.
Principal Accountabilities KPI and Targets
Assist with production of Intercompany/Intra Derivative reconciliations, FO-BO-GL Reconciliations and Reporting for Accounting Control function including AssureNET Sign Off.
Understand & review the functioning of various front office, back office & GL systems.
Review & analyze the breaks & various reconciliations prepared by the team & assist in other activities.
Team player and provide leave and off days cover for other staff.
Acquire knowledge in banking / financial services domain
Identify opportunities for development and drive changes independently
To produce accurate and timely MI being generated in conjunction with the onshore teams
Timeliness of completion of various reports as defined.
Quality of analysis produced, appropriate commentaries for movements and accuracy of observations
Group Audit observations.
Re-engineering opportunities identified and implemented
Customers / Stakeholders
Onshore Treasury Finance & other Product control teams
Liaise with various onshore teams Product control, Operations, Financial control as appropriate
Liaise with other Product control teams as appropriate
Timely and accurate MI produced with minimal queries against required deadlines
Need to build strong effective relationships with onshore colleagues to ensure successful migration / performance of the processes.
To fully understand the accounting controls and processes of the business and impact on day-to-day activities.
To be aware of changes in the business which will impact production of accurate reports & MI.

Work towards right first time processes/checks as per FIM guidelines
Adhere to control process which are in place to maintain data integrity

Management Graduates/M.Com (Full time Only) with at least 1+ years of post-qualification experience in accounting/financial reporting within a Product Control/Financial Control/Reconciliation environment (No Science Graduates) or Fresher Chartered Accountant.
The jobholder must possess a good understanding of Global Markets products, processes, financial reporting requirements and key internal controls.
Understanding of the Global Markets products - Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, Credits and Derivative products
Strong accounting skills and knowledge including Bond Accounting
Ability to manage the service delivery of a designated processes
Excellent communication skills and presentation skills
Strong analytical, problem solving and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively with staff across cultural boundaries.
Candidate should not have made frequent job switch unless there are very strong reasons for switch.
Excellent system skills in using MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel (Vlookup, Hlookup, Pivot Tables, Macros etc.), and working knowledge of MS Access along with a IT bent of mind to understand various systems used in the Global Markets business.
